Location: Whataburger Restaurant 7241 IH-10 Orange, Texas
Event: Theft and recovery of stolen truck tractor
Information: At 6:20 p.m. on Friday January 08, 2010 the Orange Police Department received a report that a white Freightliner towing a white box trailer had been stolen from the parking lot of the Whataburger located near the intersection of Highway 62 and Interstate 10 in Orange, Texas.
Officers of the Orange Police Department located the stolen truck tractor and trailer driving south on Simmons Drive in Orange, Texas and stopped the truck on Green Avenue. Amando Gomez, of the Dallas area, was arrested and charged with felony theft, valued at greater than $200,000. The truck and contents of the trailer were returned to the owner.
The owner/operator of the rig reported that he had stopped at the Whataburger to eat. Moments after entering the restaurant noticed that the rig was driving out of the parking lot.
The truck was transporting non-hazardous materials used in the drilling industry.
